For peace of mind, your IPSA Medical clinic offers a testing package covering most sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). There is also a discount, if both sexual partners ask for the full screen.

The results take only 24 hours for the viral STDs and 3–5 days for the bacterial diseases.

The service is completely discrete/confidential. You can opt to receive the results by letter, text or over the phone.

If you require a prescription and a telephone consultation with your doctor once your results have come back, then both are included in the test cost.

The full sexual health-screening package is only £295. It includes:

  • Herpes
  • Chlamydia
  • Bacterial infections
  • Early HIV detection (P24 antigen)
  • Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B
  • Gonorrhoea

This full sexual health screen is an ideal opportunity for you to get yourself checked, particularly if:

  • You are worried about the fidelity of your partner
  • You are beginning a new relationship
  • You are experiencing any STD symptoms
  • You have ever had sex without using protection

This type of full screen will not only give you peace of mind; if any results are positive, you can then be treated accordingly, and this will prevent any future problems.

Your sexual practices will be evaluated, and your IPSA Medical doctor might recommend a full screen to you. This does not depend on how recent your last sexual encounter was. Certain repeat tests may be recommended (after an appropriate time window has elapsed).

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Full Screen

An STI can be passed person-to-person when having sex without using protection. It can be passed by:

  • Vaginal sex
  • Anal sex
  • Oral sex

If you think that you might have an STI, contact your IPSA Medical clinic for a same-day doctor’s appointment.

IPSA Medical’s STI Screening

At your IPSA Medical clinic, if you prefer a female doctor, then you will be given an appointment with an IPSA Medical female doctor (who will have a special interest in gynaecological medicine/family planning).

IPSA Medical doctors can see you straight away at a time that fits in with your schedule. Your full STI consultation will be in our quiet clinic setting (which is clean and confidential).

You will be given:

  • A full examination (to exclude serious causes behind any symptoms)
  • A pregnancy test (if indicated for female clients)
  • A urine test/swabs

Your IPSA Medical doctor will discuss the range of possible causes for his/her diagnosis; to pinpoint a diagnosis, further tests may be recommended.

If your IPSA Medical doctor believes that you do have an STI, then you may be started on immediate treatment, before your results have come back.

Both the long-term effects of STIs and any future recommendations will be discussed with you during your STI appointment.

If the diagnosis is that you have an STI, you will be encouraged to inform your current/recent sexual partners. If this is difficult for you, IPSA Medical can contact them.

Following your STI consultation, your doctor is easily accessed (by phone) to answer any questions/ discuss any worries after going home.
