If you are intending to travel outside the UK, you may require vaccinations that will protect you against some more serious diseases that are prevalent in other parts of the world.
At your IPSA Medical vaccination clinic, vaccinations are available to protect you against many key travel-related infections, such as rabies, typhoid and hepatitis A.
The British childhood vaccination programme does protect you against some of these diseases (e.g. tetanus), but if you grew up in Britain, you will not be protected against the majority of infectious diseases that are present in other countries.

Why do I have to get travel vaccinations?

Some overseas countries require an ICVP (an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis) prior to you being able to enter the country. For example, Saudi Arabia requires you to have proof of vaccination against some types of meningitis if you are undertaking the Umrah/Hajj pilgrimages.
Many tropical countries (e.g. South America/Africa) will not allow tourists/travellers into the country if they have been through yellow fever areas, unless they provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

Being vaccinated at your IPSA Medical vaccination clinic

The travel vaccinations you will need do vary depending on what you intend to do during your overseas visit and on the country you intend to visit.
Your IPSA Medical vaccination physician will give you your travel vaccinations and general advice regarding maintaining your health when abroad (e.g. how to protect yourself against malaria).
If you need boosters for any of your British vaccinations, these can also be given at your IPSA Medical vaccination clinic, plus any of your relevant travel vaccinations, for example:

  • Typhoid
  • Tuberculosis
  • Rabies
  • Diphtheria/polio/tetanus (the combined booster)
  • Cholera
  • Hepatitis A (which can be combined with typhoid or hepatitis B)
  • Meningococcal meningitis
  • Hepatitis B (when not combined with hepatitis A)
  • Tick-borne encephalitis
  • Japanese encephalitis

At your IPSA Medical vaccination clinic, we can also provide you with your full Certificate of Completion. This vaccination record from your IPSA Medical vaccination clinic might be requested at airports or at your place of employment.
